VANCOUVER, BC – Gandeeva Therapeutics leadership and staff were saddened to learn of Don Kania’s passing on July 28, 2024. Don, pictured above, was a dear ally, advisor, and colleague. He served on the Board of Gandeeva Therapeutics from its inception in 2020. His deep understanding of the evolution of electron microscopy and his guidance as a business leader were essential in establishing Gandeeva’s mission, vision, and direction.

As a longtime friend and colleague in the field of cryogenic electron microscopy, both in his role as CEO at FEI and later, at ThermoFisher, I have long valued his expertise, scientific curiosity, and sense of humor,” said Sriram Subramaniam, Gandeeva Founder and CEO. “Don’s wisdom is encoded into the DNA of Gandeeva Therapeutics. We will miss our friend.”

Don Kania earned his MS in physics and PhD in engineering from the University of Michigan. He was the Chief Executive Officer of FEI Company, a world-leading manufacturer of electron microscopes, from 2006 until the company was sold to Thermo Fisher in 2016. During his tenure, revenue doubled, while profitability and share price increased by five-fold.
